Tulip Immersion at Blackland House with Polly Nicholson and Shane Connolly

Spend a day in the private gardens of Blackland House in Wiltshire with Polly Nicholson, tulip specialist and owner of Bayntun Flowers, and Shane Connolly, Florist by Royal Appointment to HM the King.

Polly will guide you around her private gardens and flower field, which will be at their peak. A plethora of tulips will be in flower, including many species and historic varieties, as well as a wide selection of more modern cultivars planted as perennials in long grass and borders, and spilling out of containers throughout the property.

Insider secrets will be revealed as Polly talks you through her simple organic growing methods, discusses the best tulips to plant for repeat flowering, and points you towards the most reliable suppliers of top-quality bulbs. There will be plenty of time to ask questions, and Polly will be signing copies of her book ‘The Tulip Garden’, published by Phaidon, which will be hot off the press and available for purchase.

After a delicious, organic lunch, Shane Connolly will take centre stage, demonstrating his unique style of creating seasonal, foam-free arrangements. He will concentrate on tulips grown by Polly and show how they can be used to show off their individual characteristics and qualities, by choosing the right containers and playing with different combinations.

Everyone will then get a chance to experiment themselves, using beautiful home-grown spring flowers and foliage. We will supply a vase which you can fill and take home with you. The day will wind up at 4:00 PM after tea, cake and the opportunity to wander around the walled garden.
