This specialist day at Bayntun Flowers will explore the history and cultivation of Species Tulips. It is open to all who are passionate about tulips, and no previous growing experience is necessary.

10 30 - Welcome and coffee.
Introduction by Polly Nicholson of Bayntun Flowers, guided walk around the private garden at Blackland House.

12 00 - Hannah Gardner, Head Gardener at Blackland Park and ‘The Outsider’ columnist for Gardens Illustrated will discuss and demonstrate the cultivation of Species Tulips in containers, borders and naturalised. We will have several different varieties in flower to use as examples.

1 00 -  Lunch in the garden or greenhouse dependent on the weather.

2 00 - The History of Species Tulips by Anna Pavord, author of The Tulip, which has just celebrated its 20th anniversary with a beautiful new edition (Anna will have copies to sign). This lecture with slides will be in the main house.

After Anna’s talk there will be time to wander around the garden and visit the flower field where we grow on a more agricultural scale. Soft finish at 3 30.

Please bring wet and windy weather wear, including wellies.
