Join us at Blackland House, home of Bayntun Flowers, for the rare opportunity to discover the garden in autumn.
Originally designed with the help of Arne Maynard, this very personal, private garden has developed over the last twenty years. The sympathetically restored walled garden is set against a Georgian coach house and works as a micro-climate and trial ground for flowers, fruit and interesting vegetables. Polly Nicholson is holder of the National Collection of Tulipa (Historic) with Plant Heritage, and specialises in other unusual flower groups and an autumn opening allows these to be enjoyed.
At this softer of year, monumental containers are alive with richly coloured dahlias, zinnias and grasses, bringing warmth and movement to the garden. Beyond the more formal structure of the garden, you’ll discover softer, naturalised areas, a woodland planting overlooking the River Marden, and an atmospheric old grotto. A new feature, Bridge Walk, is currently under construction and will gently meander back and forth across the River Marden, adding an exciting new perspective to the landscape.
The garden is managed entirely along organic principles and is fully certified by the Soil Association UK.
